![]() In some cases, a CD will contain a mixture of keyboard, chamber, concerto or orchestral pieces, occasionally spanning both early and late classifications. Keyboard music is not included in this list (see Early Keyboard Music) nor is orchestral music (see Early Orchestral Music). ![]() Generally, I have taken the cut off point between chamber and orchestral music to be approximately 8-10 performers, though this definition is flexible. The term "chamber music" as applied here refers to music playable by a small number of performers and may include music of secular or sacred origin (i.e., sonata di chiesa or sonata di camera). ![]() The majority of the music from this time span is considered to be Baroque (roughly 1600-1750) but music from the Renaissance Period that preceded the Baroque period, as well as a few examples of the Galant and Rococo styles which grew beyond the High Baroque style, is also included in this list.
